Bunbury’s south-west to become a mountain biking dream

By Kevin Kelly

Australians love their mountain biking – this should come as no surprise either, as our beautiful landscapes and terrain make for challenging and enjoyable trails.

The city of Bunbury is implementing changes that will see a rejuvenation and upgrade to the St Mark's Urban Mountain Bike Park. This will be a great boost to tourism in the region, as St Mark's becomes a destination for mountain bikers from all over the country. As a result, will houses to rent in Bunbury see an increase in popularity?

Biking for a great time

Have you ever experienced mountain biking before? If not, it's a fantastic time, and an easy way to get outside, see some of the most beautiful parts of our region and get the heart pumping all at once.

The initial upgrades to St Mark's include bigger and better jumps as well as a new starting mound. Once you put your feet on the pedals on the starting mound, you'll know the track to follow will be something you want to visit every week. And that's the whole idea – Bunbury mayor Gary Brennan has been making changes to our wonderful city in a bid to increase foot traffic and popularity in the south-west.

"The upgrades will benefit those who have an interest in mountain biking and also families and individuals who want to try something different," he said.

"I am very pleased to see the community being engaged throughout the entire process as it will ensure the facilities meet the expectations of all users."

Some incredibly valuable natural sites lie around St Mark's Urban Mountain Bike Park, including a creek and some very old trees. Mountain bikers live for these sorts of opportunities, and we can't think of anything better than locking up our patch of paradise in the CBD, taking a drive out to St Mark's and having a day riding around the trails.
