Five reasons to love renting

By Kevin Kelly

Around one-third of our country are renters, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics. With so many people no longer choosing to buy their homes, and Ray White offering some great properties to rent in Bunbury, let's look at some of the reasons why renting might be the best option for you.

If you like to move around a lot, or if work could take you anywhere, the flexibility of renting is perfect. When your lease is up, you can simply move to another town. If the economy takes a turn for the worse, you can easily downsize. If your financial circumstances change for the better, or your family grows, there's always a bigger property out there. There are many different types of leases, so if you really like to be on the move, consider going for a month-to-month lease rather than something longer term.

Better if you're on a budget

Today's economy isn't stable. If you're on a smaller budget than most, renting is certainly a wise move. You won't be subject to hefty mortgage payments that come with rising house prices, and landlords can't raise rents during a fixed term agreement unless specifically stated. Even then, they have to give you two months notice (or four weeks in rooming accommodation). This makes it much easier to plan around your other financial commitments.

Whether you own or rent your property, it's strongly recommended that you cover your possessions with an insurance policy. Insurance for rental properties tends to be cheaper, and the Ray White Bunbury website has plenty of information about renters insurance, including a special low-cost contents insurance for tenants.

City living at cheaper costs

Cities like Bunbury are great to live in. You have a huge range of shops, restaurants and bars at your doorstep, as well as a greater choice of schools if you have kids. However, buying a property in a city can, sadly, be slightly out of your price range. Renting makes city living affordable. Living closer to the city centre will also reduce your fuel costs and give you more access to public transport.

Rental properties often come with access to gyms, pools and sometimes even spas, all things that most people can't normally afford to have in their homes. This is a huge advantage of renting, especially when you can take a dip in the pool during Bunbury's scorching summer months.

If you're looking to rent in Bunbury, Ray White has an awesome range of properties for you.
