Get your hands dirty with the Bunbury community

By Kevin Kelly

Who doesn't love a community garden space? It's inclusive and helps to bring people together, all the while looking beautiful and acting as a great location for walks, or even a romantic date!

A City of Bunbury media release from 31 May outlines the plans for the council to reinvigorate the Withers Community Garden, now known as the Bunbury Community Garden, so that it can "reach its full potential".

Already, the crops have shown impressive results with tomatoes, Asian greens, corn and carrots thriving in the space. This has been made possible largely because of the countless volunteer hours put in by many passionate locals, and the continued support is going to be a great boost to the community spirit in Bunbury. This is sure to bring more people into Bunbury rentals.

Helping the community to flourish

No matter who you are or what experience you have with gardening, people are being encouraged to head down to the space behind the Withers Community Library and get involved!

"You don't have to be an expert in growing fruit and vegetables as the garden is more than just a place to provide fresh, organic produce," said Deanna Sullivan, the team leader of community services in Bunbury.

"It is designed to be a hub where people from all walks of life can come together in a relaxed and social setting and do something that benefits the wider community."

There are also more foundational projects underway in the space, thanks to a state government grant – a gazebo and some retaining walls are being constructed to give the surrounding area more versatility than just being a patch for vegetables to grow in.

If this is the sort of activity that you want to see in your community, why not make the move to this wonderful city? Bunbury rentals are a great way to settle in, and the team at Ray White Bunbury will be able to get you into the right place, right away.
