More than 1,000 homeowners have taken advantage of the Opening Doors initiative since its inception in September 2011, according to an October 26 media release posted on the Western Australia state government's official website.
This initiative, which is part of the government's Affordable Housing Strategy, is intended to help Western Australians make the dream of homeownership a reality.
“As of October 1 2013, 1,112 properties have been sold through this initiative," said Housing Minister Bill Marmion in the release.
"The success in reaching this milestone in less than two years is a strong signal that the state government is delivering quality housing at an affordable price. We want to make home ownership, rather than public housing, the destination for all West Australians.”
Whether seeking housing in Perth or real estate in Bunbury, it seems that a wide swath of the general public is realising now is a good time to invest in property in the area.
In addition to the Bunbury Mail reporting that real estate agents are putting their money where their mouths are by buying in the area, finder.com.au reported that 90 per cent of first home buyers in WA said it is their New Year's resolution to purchase a property during 2014.
