New speed limit for Ocean Drive

By Kevin Kelly

Motorists who regularly find themselves travelling along Ocean Drive will notice that a new speed restriction has been placed in the area, following a campaign by local residents.

People living in property in South Bunbury are likely to have been among those pressuring the council to review the speed limit, which many believe should be lowered from 70kmh to 6kmh.

The Withers Advisory Committee was involved in putting forward the proposal that mainly focused on the area between Washington Avenue and Mosedale Avenue.

"This is a win-win for the community and proves if people take a proactive approach they can implement change," said City of Bunbury councillor and Withers Advisory Committee chairman James Hayward.

New signage is already in place, so motorists should soon start to notice the changes along this particular stretch of road.
