Proposal for new traffic calming devices in Bunbury

By Kevin Kelly

After the community expressed concern, the City of Bunbury has announced plans to investigate the installation of new traffic calming devices on Barr Road.

This comes after consultation with locals about poor driving behaviour in the area. Community concern for safety could be a welcome investment for owners of real estate in Bunbury.

City of Bunbury deputy mayor Brendan Kelly said eliminating "hoon behaviour" was important for the community to embrace and encouraged people to get in touch with the police with any concerns they have.

"We are also heading into winter and road safety is paramount at this time of year. There are also more cyclists on our roads and drivers need to take their rights and safety into consideration," said Mr Kelly in a 30 April statement.

The project came to fruition in December 2014 after a petition was shown to the local council, highlighting community concerns about the quality of driving in the area. The project has an estimated cost of $12,000 – a small price to pay for the safety of residents living in the city.

If you're interested in buying Bunbury property, be sure to get in touch with a real estate agent to begin looking into options in the local neighbourhood today.
