Welcome the New Year in style in Bunbury

By Kevin Kelly

Our little city is a fun place to be when the silly season rolls around – particularly on New Years Eve when you've got countless great local events to choose from.

With so much to do, it can be tricky to pick just one event, so to make it easier, we've picked our favourite ways to bring in the New Year in beautiful Bunbury.

Fireworks and family fun at the Bunbury trotting club

A visit to the Bunbury Trotting Club is a good time regardless of the time of year. On December 31 the famous venue promises even more fun, putting on fireworks, a live band, gourmet buffet meal and horse racing to celebrate the New Year.

Bring the family, the picnic blanket and a couple deck chairs and enjoy food drinks and family fun on the grassed area. Or, if you're feeling like a slightly salubrious evening, book a table at Maneas restaurant and tuck into their special New Years Eve buffet. Tickets are cheap – but bookings are essential.

Rio Carnival at the Sanctuary Gold Resort

For something a little more festive, grab tickets to the Rio Carnival themed New Years Eve party at the Sanctuary Golf Resort. There's two ticket options: entry only, or VIP tickets which include a buffet dinner and reserved seating on the night.

Doors open for VIPs at six, and for others at seven and tickets are available online. Plus if you end up staying past midnight, there are rooms available for the night next door at the luxurious Mercure Sanctuary Resort!

Dance floors and DJs at the Funkee Monkee

For an evening with style and free flowing beverages, don't go past New Years Eve at the Funkee Monkee Eatery and Bar. One of Bunbury's coolest bars, The Monkee offers delicious tapas style food, and a wide range of tap beers, local wines and cocktails.

On the night pay $125 for four hours of free beverages and canapes, or go for the premium package including cocktails for $165. For audio entertainment you can expect a live band, live DJ and two separate dance floors so that you can celebrate the beginning of 2018 the right way.

Whatever you decide to do on the night, we at Ray White Bunbury wish you a happy New Year – and best of luck for 2018!
