Youths encouraged to join arts festival

By Kevin Kelly

Younger people living in real estate in Bunbury could be interested to know that The Shift – Youth Arts Festival is looking for volunteers to help out between 13 – 19 April, giving youths the chance to participate in workshops and learn a new skill during the summer holidays.

This also provides an opportunity for young creatives to hone their skills, as well as an exciting chance to embrace unique performance and exhibition outlets in the area. The event is being held alongside National Youth Week and is targeting those aged 12 to 15.

The volunteer experience involves the attendees in a number of different planning aspects of the festival including concept design, organisation, and lending a hand in executing the delivery of the festival. Volunteer areas include public relations, marketing and promotions, shaping the style and theme of the event, workshop facilitating, and exhibition roles.

Being involved also nets volunteers a reference for their CV, which could be useful in future endeavors. Now could be a great time to start planning your school holiday events and what better way to spend it than by getting into the community spirit and helping put on a wonderful show for the local area?
