4 beautiful beaches to enjoy around Bunbury

By Kevin Kelly

Real estate in Bunbury is surrounded by some of Western Australia's most beautiful natural landscapes. As well as making a great base for weekend camping trips, the Bunbury region is right by the water. Some lovely sandy spots are just a short walk or drive away, so get ready to kick back, take a dip or ride the waves at one of these coastal destinations.

1. Peppermint Grove Beach

Peppermint Grove Beach is 30 minutes' drive south of Bunbury and is an ideal place to take younger family members. From swimming, paddling, building sandcastles and capering around the nearby playground, kids are sure to enjoy this spot!

If you don't have children to chaperone, why not take advantage of being so close to the Geographe wine region? Extend your trip to the beach with a visit to Capel for a glass of vino in the sunshine.

2. Myalup Beach

Unassuming Myalup Beach is just half an hour from Bunbury in the opposite direction. It's the perfect place to cast a line.

If fishing's not your thing, you might enjoy spotting dolphins frolicking in the waves. Avid photographers will love snapping the gorgeous sand dunes without hordes of people being in the way.

3. Back Beach

Prefer to be where all the action is? Back Beach is a short drive or walk from the Bunbury town centre and is one of the area's most popular spots.

The beach has BBQ facilities and is wheelchair accessible for less mobile relatives and friends. Finish up your day with a snorkel or surf and stick around for a truly spectacular sunset.

4. Koombana Bay

Also in close proximity to Bunbury's town centre, Koombana Bay is a must-visit for beachgoers. Marine wildlife lovers should definitely visit the Dolphin Discovery Centre, which offers up-close-and-personal encounters with its dolphin-spotting cruises. You can even swim with the wild creatures that often pay a visit to the bay.

Indigenous eco cruises also depart from the Discovery Centre. Run by local Noongar Troy Bennell, they give visitors the chance to learn all about the wildlife and history of the Koombana Bay area.

Western Australia's coast boasts some spectacular and beautiful beaches that offer activities for people of all ages. When you make Bunbury your home, these places are only a short walk or car ride away. Talk to us about how you can turn your dream of owning a place by the sea into a reality.
