Bunbury Invited to Clean Up Australia This Sunday

By Kevin Kelly

Businesses, schools and residents of Bunbury are invited to take part in Clean Up Australia Day this Sunday, 6 March.

Last year there were more than 588,000 volunteers who put on the gloves and picked up more than 15,560 tonnes of rubbish across registered sites in Australia.

There are a few ways in which residents of Bunbury can take part in this great event for our community.

Volunteering
The volunteers at each Clean Up Site are invaluable. If you would like to volunteer at a site that is already registered on the website, please search in your local area here . You can either register online or on the day.

Step 1 – Register to Create a Clean Up Site
Select a site in your local area that you think needs a clean up. Please contact your local council to advise them of your Clean Up event and to liaise the removal of rubbish collected. Council may also be able to assist you to identify a potential site. If you would like to conduct a Clean Up on private land, you will have to get the landholder’s permission.

Register on our website by choosing to Create a Clean Up Site.

Step 2 – Receive your free Clean Up Kit
Once you have registered online we will send you a Clean Up Kit containing everything you need for your event (please allow 2 weeks for delivery).

Step 3 – Promote your Clean Up site to attract volunteers

Read the Site Guide you received in your Clean Up Kit for ideas on promoting your site. Additional information can be found at the Resource Centre.

Step 4 – Preparation for your Clean Up event
Organise any additional equipment required in addition to the kit material received from Clean Up Australia.

Step 5 – On the Clean Up event and after
It’s all about having fun, and cleaning up our beautiful state.

Competitions are also available for participants, you can enter by visiting the Competition Website.
