Bunbury makes preparations for Christmas festivities

By Kevin Kelly

Thinking about Christmas isn't high on many people's agendas at the moment, but preparations are already underway in Bunbury to make sure its festivities are up to scratch.

The annual City of Bunbury Christmas Parade and Carnival sees the CBD transformed into a festive wonderland, with floats and performers keeping the crowds entertained.

You can expect to see the event on 7 December in Bicentennial Square, but there are still plenty of preparations that need to be made.

In order to make the event a success, those living in Bunbury rentals are being asked to volunteer their time and ensure 2014 goes out with a bang.

Schools, clubs and organisations can all get involved in making floats for the procession – there are even prizes for first and runner-up places.

Bunbury's deputy mayor Brendan Kelly commented: "The parade is a fantastic display of not just Christmas but true community spirit.

"There is something for everyone at this event and I am proud to be a part of it."

Bunbury has a busy schedule of events throughout the year, which is what makes it a popular place to live in Western Australia.

From Australia Day celebrations to the South West Autumn Racing Carnival, there's always something to keep residents occupied.
