Future flood risks mitigated by new pump station

By Kevin Kelly

Development has begun on new infrastructure at the Five Mile Brook pump station, in order to install a second pump as backup to help mitigate any future flooding risks. This could offer some reassurances for residents of real estate in Bunbury, especially with winter just around the corner.

Bunbury mayor Gary Brennan said the investment was part of the city's continued commitment to infrastructure projects to help keep the local community in a strong position.

"Investing in essential infrastructure such as the Five Mile Brook pump station underlines the importance of the City continuing with below ground drainage upgrades," said Mr Brennan in a 10 Marchstatement.

The project will help to boost the stormwater discharge up by 1,000 litres per second, which is a 400 per cent increase on the current pump station capacity. The pedestrian bridge has remained open, giving the public the chance to see the progress of the work.

If you're interested in buying property in Bunbury, the local community prides itself on strong infrastructure and continuous growth, making it a wonderful place to consider securing a home and settling down in the future.
