Is your property in Eaton ready for bushfire season?

By Kevin Kelly

Keeping your property in Eaton safe during bushfire season is essential, which is why the City of Bunbury is hosting a special seminar on how to do just that.

Scheduled for 8 December at the Council Function Room, members of the local community are invited along to learn more about the precautions they can take to protect themselves and their homes.

The area might not be considered at high risk, but there are nevertheless some steps that can be followed to make the impact of a bushfire less devastating.

Community law safety and emergency management team leader Chris Widmer urged local residents not to become complacent over the next few months.

"Every home is at risk of an ember attack. If a lighter can light it then so could an ember," Mr Widmer commented.

The event will run from 6 pm and the City Emergency Management team will be on hand to deliver advice and answer any questions you might have.

Owners of properties that are at a high risk of being affected by a bushfire will be invited to the seminar, but it is open to anyone who wants to improve their safety at this time of year.
