As of 19 January 2016, development for prime property Lot 1 Koombana North received approval, and real estate in Bunbury is set to receive a boost because of it.
The development will stand six-storeys tall, a media release from the City of Bunbury website stated. Including ground-floor apartments, shops, restaurants and basement car parks, it is hoped the building will generate renewed interest in the region.
"Koombana North is a fantastic location close to the Marlston waterfront and Bunbury CBD and this development fits perfectly with the vision for this precinct," said Bunbury mayor Gary Brennan.
Mr. Brennan is also excited about the prospect of how a rejuvenated Koombana North will look to travellers as they enter the region, and the development fits in well with a reshaping of the greater Bunbury area.
"This is also a key entry point into the CBD and it will tie in successfully with the existing development on the Marlston waterfront and also the future upgrade of Koombana Drive and landscaping as part of the transformation of Bunbury's waterfront," he said.
Bunbury Forum shopping centre is undergoing a $58million upgrade to complement the Lot 1 development, as well as a redevelopment of the Plaza shopping centre. These three projects should be providing motivation for people interested in houses to rent in Bunbury and also purchasing real estate, as the greater region is developing quickly.
With the key projects being undertaken and more properties in Koombana North set to shine in the near future, budding home buyers will be looking at Bunbury as a way to either get into the property market or set it as a perfect holiday destination only an hour south of Perth.
