If like many people you have a pool installed at your property in Australind, it's essential to make sure it lives up to strict safety standards.
The City of Bunbury is reminding pool owners that any private facility that's more than 300mm deep must have a fence surrounding it to prevent young people from entering.
This applies to both above and in-ground swimming pools, as well as spa and inflatable models.
However, if you have a spa bath that is emptied after every use then you're exempt from the regulations.
Planning and development services director Bob Karaszkewych said: "These pools are a popular purchase during summer and buyers need to be aware of the potential risks they pose to young people."
A number of inspections have been carried out in the City of Bunbury area and it's been found that many people are unaware of these requirements.
