Ensuring our children have access to high quality education is a key aspect to their development, with continued support for schools a great factor to keep in mind when looking for property. Luckily, if you're considering real estate in Bunbury, news of the local high school expansion could offer another incentive to move into the region.
Bunbury High School recently saw a new two-storey classroom added to the facility, which aims to help boost the capacity for year 7 students in the future.
Education minister Peter Collier and regional development minister Terry Redman opened the $5.5million building late last week, with Mr Redman stating that this investment in the school aims to build sustainable communities in regional Western Australia.
"Regional students need to be provided with the same opportunity as those in the metropolitan area," said Mr Redman in a 13 March statement.
With an additional 164 year 7 students beginning at the school this year, it was essential for a new building to be made in order to accommodate them. Furthermore, a number of specialist classes – including a music course – will be made possible by the building's existence.
