Residents living in real estate in Bunbury will be glad to hear the local council has taken steps towards enhancing road safety in the city.
The Declaration of Road Safety was signed in recent days, which shows support for the Bunbury Region RoadWise Committee.
The formal commitment has been made by local governments to improve community life and minimise the number of incidents on roads throughout Western Australia – including those in Bunbury.
Mayor of the city Gary Brennan commented: "Through the signing of this declaration we demonstrate our commitment to Western Australia's Towards Zero vision of road safety.
"Christmas is a time when typically there is greater activity on the roads, and so it is particularly important for us to reinforce the message of safety."
The local governments signing the declaration are responsible for managing around 72 per cent of the Western Australian road network, so this latest move has the potential to make a real difference.
Earlier this month, the City of Bunbury announced that free parking would be extended in the CBD in the run up to Christmas to help ease the burden on shoppers.
An extra hour of free parking is available until after Christmas at five visitor shopper car parks throughout the city.
